"Give a man a piece of bread, you satisfy him once.
Teach him how to earn his bread, you satisfy him for life."
Vedapatashala
Sri Tiruchi Mahaswamiji's love of tradition is seen in the vedapatashala that started in 1976. This is a school where instruction in the scriptures relating to temple worship is imparted in the traditional manner, to the interested youngsters who aspire to become proficient in Veda and agama and take up the profession of temple priests.
Priests are the only means of bridging the gap between temples and devotees. they also play an important role in the preservation of our tradition in Morden times. Sri Tiruchi Mahaswamiji has made arrangements for training priests on traditional lines which is still continued by
Sri Jayendra Puri Mahaswamiji. Sri Tiruchi Mahaswamiji's catholic approach even in this matter is evident in his inclusion of all agama divisions in the training programme here; Saiva, Skata, Panchratra and Vaikhanasa. Sri Tiruchi Mahaswamiji and Sri Jayendra Puri Mahaswamiji are altogether above any sectarian differences. Students of this school are drawn from all sects and communities, and many of them have already begun their careers as temple priests in different parts of the country and abroad.
